What happens when Local Radio announcer Elliott Lovejoy gets out of the studio and into some actual work?

It is very common in the retail industry to have a potential new staff member in for a job trial prior to offering a contract. In work where talent and skill is everything, a job trial offers a great way for owners to assess the hands-on skills of their future employee.

Sure, producing Breakfast on Triple MMM 99.5 Cairns every morning is a job, of sorts.

You need to bounce out of bed at 4.00 am, track down your cup of coffee and wave your microphone at people. But it’s all a walk in the park, when compared to the kind and patient labour of those who work in the retail sector and in small business in Cairns.

Keen to know what it’s like to do some real work for a change – even if just for one hour – We invited Elliott Lovejoy to see if some of local retailers could make any use of him. J From Wednesday July 24 to Friday July 26, between 11am and 1pm Elliott will be here at the Plaza to trial out different jobs. Working in different specialty stores. He will test out his skills in a trial in 6 specialty retailers to see how he thrives or takes a big dive!
