Discover yourself through Volunteering

If the Cairns Winter weather is urging you out to engage in Cairns life, think about volunteering. The 2019 Volunteer Expo, presented to you by FNQ Volunteers Inc. at Mount Sheridan Plaza will showcase just some of the volunteering opportunities on offer in the region.

With so much interest from the public looking for volunteering opportunities, and from Volunteer Involving Organisations looking for help, FNQ Volunteers Inc has decided to run an event held at Mount Sheridan Plaza.

“We at FNQ Volunteers Inc. thank Mount Sheridan Plaza for the great opportunity to partner with them in our mini Volunteer Expo on 16 May. We are really excited by the prospect of sharing our volunteer information with the Southside community, and showcasing the wonderful and inspiring organisations that are actively involved in helping to make the Cairns region the best place to live, work and play.” Says Annette Sheppard (President)

Kay Judd Marketing and Customer Experience Manager said “The Expo is a great opportunity for Volunteer Involving Organisations to showcase their causes and their needs to the community. “People will get the chance to meet with staff and volunteers of organisations face-to-face and discuss, not only what volunteering roles the organisation has available, but also what further skills and value the volunteer might bring to the organisation.”

The Expo will be held on Thursday 16th May in centre court at Mount Sheridan Plaza, from 10am to 6pm. Admission to the Expo is free. Exhibitors are coming from every sector, including aged care, animal welfare, community services, disability, environment, health and sport. The service focus of exhibitors is varied and growing, with new exhibitors coming on board each day.

Some of the organisations coming along are, COUCH, Cancer Council, Leukaemia Foundation, Animal Care for Seniors at Home, TAFE, FNQ Volunteers Inc, Orange Skye Australia, Pyjama Foundation, Cairns Little Theatre, Cairns Historical Society, Cairns Meal on Wheels, Tropic Arts and Great Pyramid Race and Country Fair just to name a few.

MSP Centre Manager Angela Liversage said “Volunteering is an ideal way to build your skills and extend your professional and personal network while contributing to a worthy cause.”
