Our friends at the Cairns Model Railway Club have organised an engaging and interactive workshop designed to introduce children to the captivating world of model railways and the art of model train building! Here’s what they have planned:

Drive the Layout
Kids can take the controls and drive on not one, but two interactive train layouts, giving them a taste of what it’s like to be a real train engineer.

Design Your Own Steam Train
Using wooden cutouts, children will unleash their inner artist by decorating their own steam train to take home as a keepsake.

Decorate Your Own Mini Shipping Container
Kids can enjoy designing and decorating a miniature shipping container and watch their creation evolve as it’s pulled around a model train layout.

Puzzles and Games
From word searches to mazes, kids can enjoy solving train-themed puzzles during the workshop—or take them home to complete later.

This workshop is perfect for children of all ages and guarantees a day packed with creativity, exploration, and hands-on fun. This workshop is proudly presented by the volunteers at Cairns Model Railway Club opposite Kmart on January 15, 17, and 18 from 9am-12noon. A parent or guardian must supervise children.
