On Wednesday 15 November at 10:00am Kmart Mount Sheridan Plaza will officially kick off their Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal together with The Salvation Army to support members of the community in need.
With more than 2.9 million Australia’s currently living in poverty. Australia’s largest and longest running Christmas Appeal will once again support children, adults, seniors and families who are unable to afford gifts at Christmas and beyond.
To date, the Appeal has collected more than eight million gifts and all members of the Cairns community are encouraged to dig deep and help celebrate the 30 years of the Appeal by giving in store at Mount Sheridan Plaza.
“The Kmart Mt Sheridan team are excited to launch the 30th annual Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal on November 15. We urge the Mt Sheridan community to give generously to this year’s Appeal to help us show others that they are not alone this Christmas. Kmart Mt Sheridan’s Wishing Tree Appeal launch activities will begin from 10:00am, offering the community free family friendly entertainment” – Brad Walter, Kmart Mt Sheridan Store Manager
The launch will be a success with the help of the Salvation Army, Bentley Park School Choir (signing Christmas carols), and amazing support from the CQUUniversity Cairns Taipans.
CQUUniversity Cairns Taipans chief executive Mark Beecroft said the club was proud to support the cause.
Greg Reynolds, CQUniversity Cairns Taipans Sales Manager “The Taipans are pleased to be involved with this cause and hope our involvement encourages Cairns locals to dig deep this Christmas for those less fortunate,” he said. “Each year we are delighted to see the Appeal continue to grow as the enormous generosity of the community within the Cairns region never stops spreading the joy of Christmas to families less fortunate,” said Kay Judd Marketing Manager.
