No Empty Bowls

From July 1 to July 31 Mount Sheridan Plaza are encouraging people to donate an item for a local animal on their next trip to the shops. The campaign No Empty Bowls will provide local animal shelters and community organisations with food for the furry and feathery animals within our region. The goal is to feed as many animals as possible.

No Empty Bowls will support and assist in working towards a solution to providing food, shelter, advice and friendship and by bringing the reality to the whole of the community. In the past few years, the number of pets who became homeless via relinquishment and abandonment has increased because of the economic downturn, foreclosures and joblessness. Providing temporary assistance with pet food removes one potential reason for families considering relinquishing or abandoning their pets, and will help people keep the pets they love.

You can donate by:

1 – Bringing an item from home and place in the respective donation box
2 – Purchase an item whilst shopping and place in donation box

There are currently 2 drop points located in the mall one at the entrance of Coles and the other outside Woolworths, in which you can conveniently drop your donation of canned food.

No Empty Bowls will support many local charaties: RSPCA Cairns, Adopt Me Kittens, Coleen’s Cat Rehoming, Animal Rescue Tablelands, Animal Rehoming Tablelands and Cairns and YAPS

“No Empty Bowls began on Saturday July 1, in 5 days the generosity of Cairns has already filled 2 shopping trolley’s which will feed over 1,000 animals” Kay Judd Marketing Manager said.

“Angela Liversage Centre Manager said we are proud to offer our support for such worth while and reputable charitable organisations, who provide essential services to our furry friends in need”

“YAPS congratulates Mt Sheridan Plaza on this much needed initiative to ensure there are “No Empty Bowls” in FNQ. As many people experience financial hardship, the animals go without, and to not have any empty bowl is a joy to these animals. Yaps appreciates any donations of food for the rescued  and forfeited animals
under our care and thanks Mt Sheridan Plaza for their support in caring for the animals of FNQ.” Says Carol YAPS representative.

On Friday 28th July at 10am, Mount Sheridan Plaza are inviting you to celebrate the success of the campaign and to highlight the generosity of our very own region. Representatives from the above charities will be onsite with some furry friends in-tow.

Thank you and hope that you will join us in brining the local community iniaitive to life.
