Marketing Manager Kay Judd said ”Mount Sheridan Plaza is proud to host the Annual Spelling Bee, rewarding academic achievement within Cairns and surrounding areas. It is rewarding to see the calibre of students at an event that nourishes an important foundation in literacy.”
“As master of ceremonies for the spelling bee, I am thrilled to have been asked to be part of this incredible academic competition and excited to see all of the amazing students participate in such an event that recognises the importance of literacy.”” says Sharee Verdon Master of Ceremonies.
The Spelling Bee was introduced in 2011 as a fun and educational way for primary and secondary school students to engage in spelling. The program includes activities to encourage all students to improve their vocabulary and spelling and to promote literacy skills.
“While the Spelling Bee is a competition, it also has an underlining literacy message, that it’s fun to practice spelling, reading and writing outside of school.” Says Angela Liversage Centre Manager.
We are honoured to have Master of Ceremonies Sharee Verdon and special judges over the course of the 3 weeks, Liz Jorgenson (ex Teacher, Librarian and avid volunteer) and Angela Liversage Mount Sheridan Plaza Centre Manager.
