Has this year been a whirlwind year so far? Then on top of everything, you need to cater to your little love bugs all day every day. It is a great idea to keep things simple especially if not traveling domestically or internationally.
Of course, trips away, outings, excursions, going abroad and camping are all wonderful but keeping it simple is also very beneficial. As working Mums, we try and utilise vacation care, friends and family but it’s also amazing we you can balance and take some time off to spend with your kids because us Mums need holidays from the usual routine too!
But we don’t want to lose our minds right? So I thought I’d share what I think a school holiday is all about, especially in FNQ….
Get the kids in the kitchen; start with something simple like Fruit Skewers, or mini pancakes.
Be Active for at least an hour, take the dog for a walk or create a mini obstacle course in your backyard, only takes a few minutes to set up. I know, I’ve done it. I mean depending on how functional and high tech you would like to make it.
Schedule swim time, in FNQ we are surrounded by so much beauty, head on down to Crystal Cascades or perhaps another beautiful fresh water hole.
Visit the Plaza; enjoy free entertainment through the September school holidays with Circus Workshops and an incredible Circus Show daily at 11am and 1pm.
Let them sleep, Ages 3 to 5: 10 to 13 hours, Ages 6 to 13: 9 to 11 hours, Ages 14 to 17: 8 to 10 hours, need I say more
Let them be Bored; You don’t need to amuse your kids every minute of the school holidays — boredom is good for children. By pushing through boredom and entertaining themselves, kids learn to think more creatively and hone their problem-solving skills.
Get a little artsy; Most arts and craft projects involve moving the hands and fingers. These movements involve fine motor skills and improve the overall muscle strength and control over movements. When your child colours or does a craft project, his motor skills gradually increase.
I hope you enjoy it!
