The last three years have produced champions, from Whitfield State School, White Rock State School, Trinity Bay State School and Freshwater Christian College so get ready for more nail-biting suspense.

The Mount Sheridan Plaza Spelling Bee starts Saturday June 3 with years 3, 4, 5 & 6, Saturday June 10 with years 7, 8, 9 & 10 with the Semi Finals and Grand Final June 17 all from 9am. For the fourth consecutive year, the Spelling Bee will be held at Mount Sheridan Plaza in centre court.

Marketing Manager Kay Judd said ”Mount Sheridan Plaza is proud to host the Annual Spelling Bee, rewarding academic achievement within Cairns and surrounding areas. It is rewarding to see the calibre of students at an event that nourishes an important foundation in literacy.”

“While the Spelling Bee is a competition, it also has an underlining literacy message, that it’s fun to practice spelling, reading and writing outside of school.” Says Angela Liversage Centre Manager.

We are honoured to have Master of Ceremonies John Riordan and special judges over the course of the 3 weeks competition in Anne Holden, Sue Rivers-Young, Liz Jorgenson (ex Teacher’s) and Alex Te-Loo (local Doctor) with a special visit at the Grand Final by local Councillor Cathy Zeigar and division 2 Councillor John Schilling
