RSPCA Cairns is calling on all lovers of sweet treats to help fight animal cruelty for this year’s Cupcake Day.

Mount Sheridan Plaza has teamed up with Hit Far North Queensland, RSPCA Cairns and Jackley’s Bakehouse holding a huge RSPCA Cupcake Day event. Inviting the people of Cairns to open their mouths, hearts and wallets ready for a great cause to fight animal cruelty on Monday August 19.

Carly and Seamus from Hit FM will be broadcasting live from Mount Sheridan Plaza from 6am-9am with the hope of selling more than 500 cupcakes with a fundraising goal of $2,000, with all proceeds going directly to RPSCA Cairns. Jackley’s Bakehouse have generously donated 500 cupcakes and will create and construct a huge snake in centre court at the Plaza made out of the very same cupcakes and a special visit from the animals at Capta.

While we firmly believe you never need an excuse to throw a party, Cupcake Day is the sweetest opportunity to get together and raise money for animals in need. Each cupcake is $2.50 with a box of 6 for $10. Spot prizes will be placed under selected cupcakes, offering attendees the chance to WIN 1 of 25 $20 Mount Sheridan Plaza Gift Cards. Whilst here purchase a hot beverage from Reveille Coffee and 50% off the proceeds will go directly to directly to RSPCA Cairns.

You can donate by, purchasing a cupcake on the day, bring a non perishable item from home, purchase an item whilst shopping and place in donation box or provide a monetary donation in the tins provided.

$20 raised can help provide an abandoned kitten a warm bed, litter tray and a meal tonight.

$55 raised can buy antibiotics for a sick shelter dog this week.

$150 raised will help desex an abandoned puppy, so they’re ready to find their forever home.

$350 raised will keep an RSPCA Inspector on the road and fighting animal cruelty for another day.

“All proceeds from this RSCPA Cupcake event will provide RSPCA Cairns with food and assistance for furry and feathery animals in need with the goal to feed and care for as many animals as possible. What better way to donate than to enjoy a delicious cupcake whilst supporting an amazing and worthwhile cause. Surprise friends, colleagues and family with a special treat” Says Marketing & Experience Manager Kay Judd.

Carly Portch, Hit Far North Radio Announcer said “I want more dogs like Jordy to have that second chance, so Monday morning put it in your diary and come down to Mount Sheridan Plaza and buy a cupcake so we can honour Jordy and all the Jordy’s out there.’’

“Angela Liversage Centre Manager said we are proud to offer our support for such worthwhile and reputable charitable organization such as RSPCA Cairns, who provide essential services to our furry friends in need”

“We are really looking forward to putting on an exciting event on Monday August 19 and thank everyone in advance for their awesome support. We’ll see you from 6:30am with furry friends in hand.” Says Rob Harvey Regional Operations Lead (North)
